Youth in Post-Liberation Syria

Summary

Joint study of young Syrians (aged 18-35) after liberation, based on 12 focus group discussions with 240 participants across urban and rural areas, plus opinion polls and observations. It reports high youth unemployment (75% rural, 53% urban), widespread informal work, disrupted education, political marginalisation and psychological distress (85% reporting anxiety, depression or PTSD). It closes with recommendations proposed by the youth and separate researcher recommendations on governance, employment, education, mental health and security.
