The apprenticeship program did more than provide cash to its beneficiaries. It was also a socio-economic recovery program. People who worked together built excellent relationships: displaced people, returnees and host communities lived and worked for at least four months inside the same small business sites.
We saw how communities can become self-reliant and recover on their own. The financial value of the grant could not be compared with the commitment, cooperation, will and love that every person in the project brought.
We hope the 500 beneficiaries can now find decent work, and we thank the 250 business owners who worked with us. Without them, the project would not have had its real impact.
